Polzeath narrowly missed winning the Swimmarathon to a team from St Austell Swimming Club. The No. 1 Squad (Chris and Jamie Rowlands, Lucy Dennis, Katie Bampton, Sophie Howarth, Henry Jarvis and Anthony Bartlett) swam 188 lengths, just beating the adult team. By a long way.

Owen Cooksley, star of the senior squad, promised that he was not about to pick his nose.

2009 Nipper Stillwaters
05/02/09 13:58 Filed in: Competitions
Polzeath took teams to the Nipper Stillwaters in St Ives over two weekends in January. The coaches wanted to say how impressed they were with the team, this is one of the toughest sports, requiring high levels of skill and fitness, it is remarkable to see the amount of effort put in by the nippers.

Oliver Jarvis picked up golds in the individual obstacle, board and manikin. James Greenwood took a gold in the board, and Angus Jarvis and Ben Berryman won a gold in the tube rescue. Other medals were won by Bryn Cooksley (Bronze, fin), Angus Jarvis (silver, obstacle; bronze, board), and Joe Andrews (bronze, Fin)
We had impressive results in the medley events (often competing against older competitors). Jago Beer Robson, Angus Jarvis, DJ Greenwood and Ben Berryman took bronze in the 8-10 medley; Oli Jarvis, Oli Bampton, Seamus Tyrell and Joe Andrews had a very strong swim to take 4th behind nipper/junior teams in the Manikin carry. The 11-13 Medley team (Oli J, Seamus, Joe and Owen Winter) narrowly missed out on a medal.
Lucy Meneer, our only girl competitor, swam some very competitive times; Charlie Hawken swam through an illness, and Matt Chaplin...was Matt Chaplin. The full results can be found here: Frostbite -times-places- 2009
